New Year’s Resolution: Start With A Cleanse

The New Year is a perfect time to do a cleanse after the holiday season. All of the parties, food, and other treats can leave you feeling tired, bloated and a little heavy around the midline. Cleanses are not only for weight loss but for the ability to reset the body back to a more healthy state.

If you are new to cleanses, then gentle is best. At Source of Health, we have many different types of cleanses available for patients to choose from gentle to more advance. Generally speaking, a cleanse gives your body a break from regular digestion and metabolism and shifts into a different way to obtain energy, fat storage.

As the fat is metabolized, it also releases stored toxins (metabolic waste) that must be then cleared out of the body. If this process goes too quickly and not cleared out, the person can feel sick, achy all over, and sometimes nauseous.

A cleanse can last for 1 day and go up to a month depending on the situation or health concerns. Many traditional cultures all around the world have a time of year to cleanse. Some go for a complete daily fast consisting of only water while others give up certain foods or activities for that period of time.

Not everyone is a candidate for an unsupervised cleanse, despite what you may read on Facebook or on a Google search. Not all doctors are trained in this process either. At Source of Health, Dr. Sorr has expertise and knowledge at creating a custom cleanse for you.
