Are You Ready To Become A Naturopathic Patient

But wait, what is Naturopathic Medicine? Is that like homeopathic medicine? Am I gonna have to stand on my head and do rain dances? These are some of the questions we have gotten over the years.

For starters, what you have been told your entire life about the body and health may have been nothing more than the marketing of products and companies trickled down into our mainstream consciousness and lexicon. An example that most everyone knows is heartburn.

Even our kids know how to get rid of heartburn – plop-plop fizz-fizz oh what a relief it is or tum-tum-tum-tum-tum! Catchy jingles implying that if you have a sensation that is uncomfortable to you, simply turn it off as quickly as you can.

“No, I am ready, I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.”

Well OK, let us introduce you to becoming a Naturopathic Patient. Here’s what we do:

A Thorough History – which typically takes about an hour. Yes, we want to know everything we can about YOU. More importantly, we are trained extensively to find the cause or causes of the reasons you are in pain or suffering. On average, you will not get treatment on your first visit since we must still compile information from lab work or imaging if necessary.

Labs – from your in-depth story of you, we determine the best test to run to establish a baseline or snapshot of your current state of health and perform specialty testing for obstacles to your health such as heavy metals, parasites or mineral deficiencies.

Physical Exams – we perform standard physical exams on every patient to thoroughly ensure that things are in working order. Many times we hear from patients how when they have gone to doctors in the past, they wouldn’t lay a finger on them. That is completely a mistake and part of that world that we are moving away from.

Treatments in office – we specialize in the whole body, this is, of course, a holistic practice. From the structural integrity such as muscle and bone alignment to a deeper approach in body chemistry with hormonal and nutritional balance. You can expect to have your doctor take the time to listen to your concerns and find the best treatment for you.

Supplements – this is an area that can be misleading to the consumer. There is an endless sea of herbs, vitamins and other nutrients that can overwhelm someone and with health food stores gaining popularity, making a choice can leave you paralyzed. So you ask the employee what’s good for x, y or z and they show you this product.

But there is a catch – They are not your doctor. They know basics about a little of this or that. That’s not what we do here. As a Naturopathic Doctor, we have extensive training in Nutrition, Homeopathy & Botanical (herbal) Medicine – which gives us the ability to select the best fit for your body and your budget.

For example, when choosing an herb for a patient, we are thinking about the whole person and which plant they might resonate best with and not just give a herb instead of a drug. We are not replacing the use of drugs with a healthier alternative, in fact, we are completely flipping that conventional model upside down.

You see, a drug forces the body to do something, it is often a harmful chemical. Nutrition and plants are used by the body, they are gentle and harmonious with the person.

Your doctor here at the Source of Health will create a custom treatment plan catered to your specific needs and goals. We are here to listen and support you as you learn to get back to health. To get started, simply give us a call to schedule a free 10-minute consultation with a doctor!
