What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are non-surgical injectable treatments that are used to plump lips, improve lost volume, soften facial folds, and smooth fine lines and wrinkles. Minimally-invasive dermal filler procedures require little downtime and deliver fast results.

Fillers are safe and relatively painless, but they are temporary. Certain dermal fillers last six months to a year, while others may last for two years or more. You will most likely need to repeat treatments to maintain results.

Our team will review your aesthetic goals and develop a targeted treatment plan to help you achieve them. Then, depending on your skin and what you want to achieve, the injector may use one type of filler or a combination to deliver the desired results.

Let’s review some of the common types of dermal fillers, all of which are offered at Source of Health.

Types of Dermal Fillers

There are many safe and effective dermal fillers on the market. We only use FDA-approved fillers and injectables to ensure our clients look and feel their best. Many of these fillers are primarily made of hyaluronic acid (HA) to deliver natural-looking results.

Here’s a list of the fillers we use:

  • Restylane Family
  • Juvederm Family
  • Sculptra
  • Radiesse
  • Kybella
  • PRP/PRF

Each filler is designed to target specific concerns or areas of the face and body. Your medical injector will decide which injectables are right for you based on your skin’s condition, your goals, and your budget. Then, they’ll create your tailored injectable treatment plan.

Let’s dive into the details of these different types of fillers.

Restylane Family

Another hyaluronic acid filler family, Restylane can smooth fine lines, plump the lips, restore lost volume and deliver natural and youthful-looking results. This type of dermal filler improves elasticity and fullness and is perfect for treating the lips, cheeks, nasolabial folds, and mouth.

Restylane-L

If you are sensitive to injections or pain associated, then keep this dermal filler in mind. Restylane-L contains a numbing agent (lidocaine) that makes the experience as comfortable as possible for patients.

Restylane Lyft

This is perfect for filling in the cheeks in a subtle way. It’s also longer-lasting compared to other Restylane fillers.

Restylane Silk and Restylane Kysse

These fillers were designed with lips in mind. You’ll see a natural-looking result by making lips appear softer and smoother with added volume.

Restylane Refyne

This specialized filler is used to treat marionette lines and nasolabial folds. You can enjoy a natural-looking result for up to six to twelve months.

Restylane Defyne

This is another specialized filler. However, Restylane Defyne is used for combating deeper laugh lines that form around the mouth. You can expect to see results for up to one year and you will still be able to laugh and enjoy flexible movement.

Restylane Contour

Restylane Contour is a cheek filler that you can trust for over twelve months. The best part? Your full cheeks will look completely natural!

Juvederm Family

Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid-based collection of fillers. These fillers are a top choice for restoring a youthful appearance. It works by reducing signs of aging and improving facial contours around the cheeks, lips, mouth, and more. Because Juvederm uses hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the body, it supports natural collagen production and creates younger-looking, supple skin.

Juvederm Ultra XC

In West Hollywood, this is one of the most common lip fillers from the Juvederm family. You will see less lines and volume in your lips for a youthful look. Juvederm Ultra XC is also used as a facial filler with long-lasting results!

Juvederm Voluma

As we get older, we gradually lose volume in our face. One way to reverse this appearance is by using Juvederm Voluma for cheek fillers. It offers lift and youthful definition. This type of dermal filler can last for up to two years, leaving you feeling younger, longer.

Juvederm Vollure

Do you have deep set wrinkles? Juvederm Vollure may be the dermal filler you’re looking for. It offers results for up to 18 months and helps improve moderate to severe wrinkles.

Juvederm Volbella

This filler is meant for the lips and surrounding area. Enjoy plump lips, smoother lines, and results that last for up to a year.

Juvederm Volux

Specifically targeting the jawline, this newest filler from the Juvederm family provides more definition to the chin and jaw area. You’re sure to notice a difference from Juvederm Volux from even just one treatment and results can last up to a year to a year and half.

Sculptra

Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) biostimulatory injectable that stimulates natural collagen production. As a result, it restores facial volume and improves deep lines. Sculptra is often used to treat deep volume loss in temples and cheeks, marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and wrinkles on the lower face. Sculptra is a premier tool in regenerative aesthetics.

Radiesse

Radiesse is a calcium based biostimulatory injectable filler that is effective at smoothing fine lines and wrinkles as well as deep volume loss of aging. As the body recognizes the calcium, it activates fibroblasts to produce collagen thereby smoothing moderate to severe facial lines and folds, particularly those around the nose and mouth. It’s also used to correct loss in volume on the back of the hands. It starts working immediately by stimulating collagen beneath the skin.

Kybella

This targeted treatment uses deoxycholic acid to break down fat. Kybella is effective for treating the appearance of a “double chin.”

Unlike most injectables on the market, Kybella promises longer-lasting results. In addition, for some people, Kybella can permanently remove fat cells from underneath the chin.
