What is Hormone Replacement Therapy?
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) can be that missing step in your journey to living your best life....
Pain-free movement stems from creating a healthy routine of consistent intelligent movement, allowing you to move better just like the warrior you are. The practice of physical therapy here at our Scottsdale office is fueled by the inspirational belief that pain is temporary, and internal strength is everlasting.
Movement is an essential part of health and wellness. Just as the traditional standard of care doesn’t work for everyone, the same goes for physical therapy.
Movement Medicine finds its healing source rooted in MVMNT. It all comes down to how you Move, the Vitality of your soul, your Mindset, proper Nutrition, and intelligent Training. Taking a holistic deep dive into how a person moves from head to toe helps uncover deeper layers of dysfunction and past trauma. Movement is medicine – taking an integrative approach delivers more profound care vs the merry-go-round insurance methods.
Our physical therapy and movement medicine evaluations and coaching containers are 90 minutes with movement expert and pain specialist, Dr. Matthew Zanis. Your journey begins with a deep dive discovery session where you will discuss lifestyle habits, previous injuries/pain experiences, training history, and movement/performance goals.
During the initial evaluation, Dr. Zanis will assess your movements patterns in conjunction with your detailed history to illuminate the root cause of your symptoms.
Following the initial evaluation, Dr. Zanis will provide you with immediate actionable movements in a personalized training program that will guide your movement needed to effectively resolve your pain symptoms, reduce risk for future injury, and enhance your movement literacy.
This is an energetic exchange that requires commitment and accountability from both you, the client, and we, the provider, in order to effectively progress through this coaching and rehabilitation container. We are committed to you, if you to us. That means you will need to invest your time, money, and energy in order to achieve the best results. At the end of the day, you will fix yourself with this long term solution.
During your physical therapy evaluation you can expect:
Movement is truly medicine and most people aren’t receiving the right dose. Similar to balancing the ratio of nutrients that you eat throughout the day, physical balance involves creating a proper ratio of various movements. Eating one type of strict diet that excludes or restricts other foods will distort your ration just like moving in one pattern every day will distort your movement ratio. Discovering the spectrum of your body’s ability to move, will allow it to find its core balance much easier.
We must assess your movements and break them down in order to discover the best way to restructure your basic patterns away from compensations. Ensuring you stop doing more of the same will help create movement that is aligned with the whole body’s cellular nature. The parts you move are the parts that change, and so all progress relies on the breakdown and rebuilding of things into new patterns.
We live for transformations, not transactions. Our priority is to communicate, build connections, and develop rapport so that the patient feels comfortable moving in new ways. From there, it’s all about co-creating the mindset of strength so that the long-term practices can create impactful results.
When we teach the human body to utilize each and every joint in the planes of motion available to it, it naturally improves in all areas of strength, balance, posture, alignment, speed, and technique. Over time, the new structure of practiced movements could also reduce pain and the risk of future injury. In this way, we use movement to create a long-term environment for healing and enhancing athletic performance in the bodies of the patients we work with. There is an immense capacity for the body to achieve stability, mobility, strength and balance while having pain free, high quality muscular performance.
Movement is complex. It can’t be distilled down to a single muscle exercise. The biopsychosocial components of the way we live in our bodies differs greatly from person to person.
Spending time to dive deep and get to know how a patient behaves and feels in their own body is crucial.
Regular physical therapy is billed by insurance companies in 8 minute increments. Because of this dogma, it leaves therapists unable to truly provide the best quality of care, similar to most primary care medicine in the U.S.
Due to the power in movement and efficacy in how the body adapts positively to specifically applied stresses, follow up visits are only needed on a once a week or once every two weeks basis. Typically 2-6 office visits are needed over the course of 90 days. From there, video check-ins at least twice a year ensure long-term success.
